In addition to being National Preparedness Month, September is also National Deaf Awareness Month, with International Day of Sign Languages being observed on Sept. 23rd.

The American Red Cross is proud to highlight the availability of preparedness materials in American Sign Language (ASL) specifically designed for deaf and hard of hearing communities.

Developed through support from a FEMA Fire Prevention and Safety Grant, the Red Cross ASL Disaster Resource Hub offers preparedness videos in ASL for hurricanes, wildfires, extreme heat, floods, winter storms and more.

In addition to resources on the hub, the Red Cross also provides its Be Red Cross Ready presentation in ASL as well as information about its popular Emergency app.

The Red Cross is committed to providing inclusive preparedness resources that help all people take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones before disasters strike and to help families and communities build resilience.
