Today and everyday we should focus on the success, achievements, and contributions of all women all over the world and of all time.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme “inspire inclusion” really places an emphasis on the sense of belonging and importance that is crucial for everyone  to feel in order to be empowered and to reach our fullest potential. The day is not about exclusion and just focusing on women, bur rather on inclusion and how women collaboratively have made their way through every aspect of society.

The first International Women’s Day in history took place in March 1911 in order to celebrate all those who advocated for women’s equality. To this day, there are feminists, movements, organizations and communities that inspire inclusion every single day. Whether through a community creating a girl’s team for a sport that is typically played by boys, or if it is showcasing the talent of a woman in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) at an organization – this day acknowledges how far women have came, and how far communities have come with regard to their inclusion.

The hashtag #InspireInclusion along with this post is utilized this year to represent the harmony between women and their career, hobbies, education, men and friends in their communities and in the world. Visit the International Women’s Day website to learn more.
